Founded in Cicero, Illinois in 1919 as Perfection Gear Company, the
company now calls Timmonsville, South Carolina home. Its 181,000 square
foot facility serves as the company's primary distribution center for a
full line of automotive clutches, clutch facings, lined and unlined clutch
discs and clutch hydraulics.
Originally, the company manufactured automotive gears and over the years added
industrial transmission parts. The company was renamed Perfection American in
1964 and moved to Darlington, South Carolina the following year. In 1974 the company
became a member of The Marmon Group Of
Companies. During the 1990's, Perfection began sourcing product in China,
and in 1996 a joint venture was established to manufacture new clutch discs and
cover assemblies.
